For everyday dictation (messages, emails, docs, prompts) oto's local engines handle it without an internet connection: Whisper and Parakeet v3, plus Apple's on-device speech on macOS 26+. If you want cloud transcription for specific jobs, oto supports optional bring-your-own-key engines from Deepgram, OpenAI, Gemini, and Groq, off by default, with keys stored in the macOS Keychain.
